How to Set Up ALT TAB PLA Filament Settings in Bambu Studio

How to Set Up ALT TAB PLA Filament Settings in Bambu Studio

Using the generic "Generic PLA" or "Bambu PLA Basic" preset works, but it's not tuned specifically for ALT TAB PLA. Setting up a dedicated profile takes a few minutes and gives you more consistent results print after print.

This guide uses ALT TAB PLA Basic's settings as the example. If you're using a different ALT TAB variant (PLA Matte, PLA Silk, PLA+PLUS/PRO, PLA Wood, PLA Marble, PLA Carbon Fiber, PLA Galaxy or PETG), check our full print settings guide first for the correct nozzle and bed temperatures for your specific filament — the steps below are the same, just swap in your variant's numbers.

Step 1: Open Filament Settings

In Bambu Studio, click Filament Settings in the right-hand panel. Start from the closest existing preset — Generic PLA is the best base to build from.

Step 2: Set the Nozzle Temperature

Go to the Temperature tab and enter ALT TAB PLA's recommended nozzle temperature:

Step 3: Set the Bed Temperature

In the same tab, set the recommended bed temperature:

Step 4: Turn on "Advanced"

Step 5: Set the Volumetric speed

In the same tab, set the recommended volumetric speed:

Step 5: Save as a Custom Profile

Click the save icon next to the profile name and save it as "ALT TAB PLA Basic" so it's easy to select for future prints without redoing these steps.

Step 6: Select It for Future Prints

Once saved, "ALT TAB PLA Basic" appears in your filament dropdown under "Custom" alongside the built-in presets — select it any time you're printing with ALT TAB PLA.

  • Set nozzle, bed, and volumetric speed to ALT TAB's recommended values
  • Save as a named custom profile so it's reusable
  • Select "ALT TAB PLA Basic" from the dropdown on future prints
